Open mat - free rolling
Possibly my favorite session due to the dynamic of the open mat. I am lucky that higher belts want to roll and correct me on mistakes - which I believe is contributing a lot to my progress on the mat. Especially learning how they transition and how they setup certain traps is very useful both for offense as defense. From my perspective it was a good session. I rolled solely against blue (2 stripes), 2 very experienced purple belts and a black belt. I had 2 nice attempts of armbar and triangle against the blue belt and I felt that I was able to survive longer than expected. I got caught in some nasty guillotines, triangles and sweeps, but I at least knew what was going on, I was just to slow and unable to respond due to mistakes in the steps before. BJJ as chest game is getting more clear to me.
I want to dedicate (even though no one will read it) a special thanks to Ed - a very warm and friendly very hard to roll against man. He left our club due to health restrictions. A big loss for the club. Even though I spend not more than 20 sessions with Ed, I learned a lot from his skills, from his advise and also from his vibe which is very calm and collective. He literally collects body parts in such way it doesn't feel pushy. There is not much rolling invovled against Ed, he is very good with pressure and movement restrictions.
From now onwards I will write a review for the week as I want to write less articles about myself and more about general / BJJ fight news. If anyone feels I should spend more time on these articles, let me know!
